Solution Outlined
- Stewart B. McKinney Act was designed to help State and local governments develop a continuum of care that can assist homeless persons achieve maximum independence in permanent housing with services, as needed when Federal property becomes surplus
- The Federal Government sold the 10 acres to the City of Redmond
- The City of Redmond created an integrated neighborhood with market-rate housing, transitional housing and Habitat for Humanity affordable home ownership housing
Results Specified
- Habitat for Humanity maximized the 1.2 acres of land that the City of Redmond made available to them by creating four town home buildings with a yield of twenty four residences
- 50+ Faith Community organizations with thousands of volunteers assist in building the development
- Twenty four deserving families get affordable home ownership
